Unused PTO

How does GE handle unused PTO when a person is laid off? Is it compensated as part of the severance package or do they simply ignore it?

I believe after the 1st of the year GE will cut a check for unused personal time. The company assumes you could be called back before the end of the fiscal year.

Accrued vacation is payed out by state laws. It will be prorated to what time of the year it is. If you are salary you are going to get nothing since they accrue nothing.

for vacation they legally have to pay you in NY state if you have vacation (so only hourly members as GE this applies to). Personal days are different though unless the union has an agreement specifying otherwise.

From what I understood, if we are still out after one year, GE buys it out and sends a check.
