Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

This is an excellent time to look for employment. Windstream workers are paid less than peers, have wages frozen, pay way too much for health benefits that stink on ice, and face possible layoffs at any minute. Screw them before they screw you anymore than they already have

Not every company has worthless executives and a CEO who is clueless like WE. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Chiming in also. Max deductible for individual at my new company is 1k and my cost is $75 month deducted biweekly.

Ladies and gentlemen, life is very good after Windstream!! It’s so refreshing to get up and want to go to work again. Also what a joy to come home knowing I accomplished a lot today. No more fear and best of all twice the pay!! Oh by the way no more 6000.00 deductibles as my new company has 2000.00 max deductibles. Life after W/S is like living a dream come true. All of you posters should come out from under the veil of fear and start enjoying work and family life again. Best of luck. 😄

"What to do now?"

Don't do anything. Stay. Let the company direct your future. Too many people are 'comfortable' where they work, and when they are laid off, are shocked that it can happen to them. This isn't the 70's or 80's where you had a job for 40 years with one company, and they paid you well. The benefits at WE are average at best, and getting worse, same with health insurance.

Companies today will just use you for as long as you are deemed useful, then throw you out like yesterday's trash, all to cut costs, and add onto the executive bonuses. Do the same to them - move on to another company that treats employees better. They are out there - there are supposedly more job openings these days than people applying for them - so now is the perfect time to get out.

Keep learning from the various online learning sites. Just don't do nothing. They will pay somewhat for college classes or certifications. At the end of the day, it is up to you what your career resembles, you are in control, not any one company.

If you haven't figured it out Tony is a mediocre accountant at best. That is a stretch; from what I see he is not to good with basic addition and subtraction.

I recently went to another telecom company after almost 20 years at Windstream, I was leary about giving up my 5 weeks vacation but as others have mentioned, you don't think about it much when you are no longer in a toxic environment worried about the next layoff. I get paid almost 25 percent more, better benefits and flex time off.

Different pay scales for the same job ?? Is this a Union position ? This is common practice for non- Union positions.

When you don’t work for a toxic a-- place you’d be surprised how little vacation you actually need. Ill take my 2 weeks vacation and doubled pay over WS 5 weeks any day. I actually enjoy going to work now imagine that.

In my department it's like an act of Congress to get a day off or vacation scheduled. tho that might be the jacka$$ manager and staffmanager we have. They want you to find your own coverage which is horse$hit. However the PTO is nice. Management is not...

Seriously though. Windstream taught me a lot along the path while I was employed there. I have transition those skills into a job that pays me much more so all in all being laid off was a good thing for me.

For the most part it’s a decent place to work , Heath insurance is terrible , 401k is decent assuming you don’t invest in company stock , vacation time is inline with other companies , pay scale range is all over the map... sure the top brass are obviously overpaid but most departments are within industry standards. Though the new initiative is to create new pay scales for new hires. That means you will have different pay scales in the same group for the same job being performed. That’s id--tic to the core. That’s not industry standard and will create more moral problems, something this company is number one at.

Honestly the PTO policy is VERY generous, no one else can match that. I have had other offers and turn it down because I would go from 30 days to 10.

Vacation time will be the next thing we cut, thanks for the good idea, we will use the extra money for the next corporate retreat for the execs.- carry on worker slave
