Why not simply seek employment elsewhere? Like any corporation PepsiCo owes you nothing and they certainly don't care about you. It's a business that is looking out for the business. You are just a number in the cog. Best to stop whining, complaining, suggesting change that will not happen, lawsuits, etc, and simply find seek employment elsewhere. As my wife would say "shutup and drive".

I am the author of the initial posting and I too have been mildly looking as soon I heard "outsourcing". Got through the Valentine's Day massacre but may not be so lucky after the 100 days are over. As far as income I took a pay cut to come to PEP because it was a good place to work. To me it still is but with an uncertain future I'm looking. The next position will offer a higher income. It has to since I'm below market.
Easier said than done. It took me two years to find another job (one year of passively looking, and another year of actively looking). It's even harder if you spent decades at the same company because potential employers look at that as a red flag. Also expect to take a pay cut and do a longer commute.
"You are just a number in the cog." I thought I was a cog in the machine! Holy crap, it's worse than I thought!
@ Insert Random GPID - I agree. Leadership is especially old and tired in Chicago. There are 3 types of people: (1) old, tired execs with umteen years in role who don’t believe in investing in the necessary infrastructure to grow, (2) weak minded individuals who follow because they are too weak to lead and (3) people who go against the grain but don’t have enough voice to make a difference. Chicago is now more about hiding who you are and being forced to celebrate random diversity BS.
It’s not like this every where. Low cost CPG has is nothing but a distribution meat market. Talk to Pharma or retail folks where leaders need to stay current and relevant.
Employees look out for themselves...through the business. It's the business duty to meet the employee halfway. Who's to say a person won't experience the same things at the next place of employment? Or the next? Or the next? Who likes being inconvenienced. Sometimes the fight correlates with putting energy in one's self.
Interesting. You couldn't have been further off from my tenure with PEP, risk taking, fighting and standing up against a global corp, fix what's broken, etc. With my 40+ years of experience in the Global theater I've witnessed and learned things that perhaps some have not. Put that energy into yourself, personal career, your families. That's all.
@insert random, I agree whole-heartedly.
This post was written by someone who has blindly followed the PepsiCo way for 25+ years. He/she is definitely more worried about making safe decisions, taking less risk and building their American Airlines miles than developing younger talent and being open minded to new ideas. Typical stale PepsiCo leadership.
So move on when a company screws you over? Why not fight for your rights and for what's yours and what you have earned? What you are saying is let the bully continue to bully and just turn the other cheek, move on with a smile. What you are saying is the same as running from a fight when you should defend yourself. Weak message ya got here Buddy.
We're talking about a PUBLIC traded company that's GLOBAL, and you want to utter "move on"? Maybe for some, but for others who decide to stand up, moving on isn't an option. So the less insane thing to do is to do a 180 on the culture and environment at Pepsi. Why not fix something that's broken?
No, it's best to fight and change the culture but not many individuals have that type if fight in them. Only the special ones, and the special ones always prevail in any case. Pepsi, Coca-Cola are some people's dream jobs. They should be able to be just as successful as the next person without facing any limitations. Moving on from a company wont change anything. People need to speak up and speak out. You may not be their to see the shift happen, but you will pave the way for the ones that come after you so that they have a fair chance in fortune 500 companies.
Your wife didn’t say that, Rihanna did!
