Anyone else think the IBM outsourcing deal will be a huge failure?

Word from our management is "Get as much done now as you can because when IBM takes over they will slow it all down"

On management calls TT talks like IT is slowing the business down. Word is Lewis went to him and told him if he thought IT was slow now it will be worse under IBM. TT's response "I don't care".

it will be interesting. IBM support will come from overseas. Those 29 people offered IBM jobs (don't know if all 29 took them) will be forced in a year from now to find another position in IBM or leave. Essentially they are on a 1 year contract. The smart ones will start looking elsewhere now. At least they have a year to find something.

It will be entertaining. You think we have angry customers now, just wait until IBM takes the baton.

Of course it will. Like everything else it sound great on paper but is poor in execution. We tried outsourcing customer services. repair, provisioning. Our customers liked it so much they outsourced their services to another carrier. I deal with field techs all day, that was another epic failure using contractors. Our whole back office is held together with spaghetti, duct tape, and bubble gum. I am waiting for the day that something big like a billing system goes down for 2 or 3 days and no one has an F'n clue how to fix it.
