Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Layoffs in EI

Was RIF'd today. Completely unexpected (didn't even occur to me today was the second Tuesday of the month). I'm not upset. But this company really needs to figure out what it's doing, what it is, and what it wants to be. If you want to be a tech company then start acting like it.

It's changed so much since 2008/2009 - getting rid to talented SMEs and replacing with LEAPs (who are shockingly being promoted to Principal and Director in their 20s) and H1-Bs. It's really a shame because this place used to be a destination where you could grow with the company. Good luck finding new opportunities at this place. You'll need it.

yes, not a good place to be a male. i am floored by some of the decisions that have been made in the branches around me putting females into management roles. CLEARLY a mandate from on high, and it's not cases of going with women all other things equal. these are women are being fast-tracked due to their gender while highly qualified males get passed up (or laid off).

The institution has changed. I was forced out as a white middle aged male too. Top performer for decades. Never a low rating. S---s getting old at a place that values perception over reality.

Severance package is 1 paycheck (2 weeks pay) for every 2 years worked.....at least that was what I was told from someone that was RIF'd.

Fido really s—k’s! I was rifd last July and now my group is rehiring for my position. I will not have a chance since I am over 60, white and a male.

Sorry to hear about that. It s---s. For the rest of us, can you let us know what the severance package was, if any? I hear it is usually 2 wks of pay per year served. Not sure about health insurance, etc. Thanks

EI is enterprise wide, not a group like PI or WI as it supports functions enterprise wide. Groups like cyber security and production support for the phones, websites, etc are within EI.
