Real reorg hasn't occurred yet because NXP is waiting for the takeover of QCOM. FSL acquisition was part of this plan. If takeover is approved the real planned slaughter will start after this. If not that will happen anyway. Everywhere in the company is a toxic environment now, waiting for real axe. only 3 weeks left until 25th July.
Exactly this. We should all be praying that the sale doesn't get approved. I don't think people realize how bad it is going to be if it does.
I am pretty old... and all I can say is I've seen a bunch of CEOs come and go. There is no special knowledge. In the end they are guessing like the rest of us. SOME times it works... sometimes the company dies.
2qwl I'm repeating what i wrote below: upper management have more tools to analyze and predict the developments in market. Market analyses etc are accessible to only an elite group of people (i.e. CEO etcs) because 1) it's a quite expensive service 2) it gives substantial confidence to predict market cap for the products.
These data are used to determine whether certain business models/products will be profitable or not.
The higher your position the more such sensitive data you can access. Since you as a simple engineer from a small village doesn't have access to such things it will be hard 4u to understand why they shut down the business.
This is something you can't explain with bio only.
Btw N is not the only company who make such strategic decisions
You think DN was heavily analyzed? and the decision made it was not worth anything? Because they have superior knowledge of the market? The CEO has an MBA from SMU and a BA from Texas Tech. Some heavy hitters were let go from DN. Frankly I think smarter people have now left the company due to DN cuts because of a short term mindset to get out of anything not in a short term growth cycle.

Nothing in it says this person can build a company. Everything says he buys and sells pieces like a trader. But what do I know... just a lowly worker bee. I guess we will have to come back in 10 years and see if anything is left.

In that level decisions have impact on many years, thus before they decide they analyze markets over a long period. They saw dn will lose, smartphone market lose, AI and iot will win. You seem to be an xfsl guy but be aware that fsl mcus are the direction for AI and iot which Q wants. Nxp-fsl was part of plan of Q takeover.
The guys in that level predict much better than we do. They have more data for decision. We only have predictions.. and a a job with which salary we try to finance our family
I agree with needing a stock boost. The CEO needs to stop thinking the deal is done and provide the market with returns for NXP shareholders. Been AWOL in my view.
Both DN and RF are to get the chop whether the merger goes through or fails. RF is only worth anything to operators who want cheap LDMOS. In my view it is now probably in a 10 year down cycle. It hasn't really been touched so it still runs like an old little motorola empire with the same breed of idiot that you saw at the end running Motorola SPS. The word is most of the guys running it only have a couple of years of experience and barely know how customer products are designed. Remember the idiots in the freescale bus with the connected toaster or whatever. That was RF. DN has mostly been slaughtered since then as everyone has wireless networking chips available. Nothing new or special about the group but it was chopped heavily already because it was costing the bottom line a lot. All in all the NXP/freescale merger will be seen as a failure in a year or so. They have yet to deal with microcontroller overlap but when they do freescale will be gone, and NXP will be run out of the Netherlands.
If I were a ceo I would have used this China delay to identify all groups, which I would occupy with nonsense assignments until deal is go / no go. I would kick all those groups even if the deal won't happen. I would do it asap because investors want to see stock boost with promises of cost saving who are waiting since end of 2016. Of course I wouldn't tell it anyone in advance who will be affected otherwise business will collapse
Any more update about DN future and its internal sub-groups if merger fails?
