Ha ha, what a knee slapper.
This transformation talk means nothing more than a systematic dismantling of the assets of this company: the real estate (stores, warehouses, office buildings, land) and the intellectual property (brands, trademarks, patents). After those two categories are fully liquidated (and we're pretty darned close), the "transformation" is complete. After that, Sears Holdings will have their online presence Eddie and Leena so desperately wanted but nothing will change. It will still be a pathetic attempt to compete with the big boys just like it is now and it will NEVER, ever, ever be a serious competitor with Amazon.com. Out of all the uncertainties in life this will hold true. It just won't happen. They've tried, they've even gave away the farm with the Shop Your Way program and people still didn't abandon Amazon (or anyone else for that matter) to shop with us.
Understand that Sears.com/Kmart.com and Shop Your Way, the last vestiges of Sears Holdings according to plan, will only exist if SHC doesn't file for bankruptcy before this "transformation" completes and is forced to liquidate by the bankruptcy court. Then some Chinese conglomerate buys the Sears.com and Kmart.com domain names for pennies on the dollar and goes on to peddle third-rate goods.
