Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

The window is narrowing

Citrix is having to rewrite the products to run from the cloud as cloud native. So far they are struggling to get the management parts done. In the meantime they have born in the cloud competitors plus service providers who run Citrix on-prem versions on AWS and Azure. There doesn't seem to be much of a niche for a Citrix Cloud doing DaaS and the window is narrowing rapidly.

Tell it to Citrix @TzcyHDH-tomp. They are the ones who decided to offer their products as a service in the cloud. If they want to do that they have to rewrite the products to be cloud native services.

Yes you can host an instance of a Citrix product like VDI in the cloud but that will not scale and is not multi-tenant and so is not a cloud service, it is just for one customers per instance.

If the cloud model is not what Citrix customers want then Citrix has a problem as they have committed to moving to a cloud services model and they are talking it up as the model of the future.

The point of rewriting for the cloud is so that it isn't a one size fits all model, but is scalable. Citrix doesn't have 15 years to make this work.

"Have to rewrite" is a strong statement. The money comes from traditional customers (and you can run a traditional deployment in the cloud if you actually want to do it).

If you want a website accepting credit cards that happens to do the same thing, then that is a different product, and will pay much less. It's probably worth building - but it isn't what Citrix customers want or would really use. So expect it to make as much revenue as other "also-ran" products like Citrix Access Gateway or Citrix Access Essentials.

Maybe in 15 year's time health, finance and governments will switch to this sort model (but I doubt that a one-size-fits-all system will be flexible enough to meet their use cases)

Most Citrix employees have little or no stock and they need their paycheck. Only an ELT clown with $millions or kiss up would make a statement about it being all about the stock price.
