HAHAHA that is funny. You must be young and got good employment straight out of school. You may not have faced a severe downturn like some of us faced in 2009 time frame. You just assume there is always going to be a guaranteed pay check and only seem to be worried about the pay increases and promotions. I got news for you. 6 - 8 months out of a job and you would have used up all the bonuses from the last 10 years and more. We have bills to pay and also can't just move the kids to completely new place and expect them to be ok. I have worked for multiple big companies. They are all pretty much the same. you win some and you lose some but they are all average out to the same. If you are happy doing what you are doing, then nothing else really matters. Long story short, I am more than happy to put in as much time I have to, for solid pay checks. Even if it only for a few years, it is still fine, who know how things are going to be in 2 years. Will have to deal with that then.

"long hours ahead" . no way. Just be someone is left holding the bag, you don't think they are going to bust their asses do you? You'd be foolish to kill yourself knowing that there is no reward. There won't be pay increases or promotions or bonuses... best you can hope for is a pat on the head and be sent packing after your hard work is done.

Apple is starting with customer support for the new campus. They will add ancillary functions like IT and so on. Don’t take my word for it ... you can google it.

QDT is dead. If you want to look out for your interests - brush up on your skills and move to Austin or the Bay Area.

Nvidia interviewed like 200 people and gave offer to two offers. That too in Santa Clara. Microsoft is some Pie in the sky Quantum computing stuff. Moreover Microsoft and Hardware in a sentence will get the word discontinued added to it eventually. Apple sounds promising but NC and its backward politics, could be a tough pill to swallow for the CEO. Will believe it, when the deal is signed on paper. Ampere has funding for two years, they have to either succeed in that time or go bust. The conclusion is, if you are spared and would like to stay in the area, then be prepared for long long hours. For the pay and insurance that QCOM provides, I am hoping and praying, I get spared.

Yes, there are still a lot of good people left who remain because they don’t want to leave N.C. and local opportunities are limited. If enough people are kept on, I believe we can still pull everything together. If next weeks cut is over 50% as stated, it will be very difficult. Those who stick around will be overloaded, over stressed but learning a lot in the process that will help land the next job. If you get cut on the other hand and accept having to move, you no longer have the stress hanging over your head. What ever the fates have in store for you next week, you can find things to be thankful for. Hang in there everyone.

People who have not left already, are here to stay for the long haul. As it stands now, Qcom is the only game in town. Yes some key folks have left, but folks staying back are more than prepared/Capable to do what it takes, to get the train back on track. Folks who get to stay back are lucky. They can pick up new skills.

Is HXT reading this?

It would be exceedingly difficult but possible to deliver V2 to HXT/China, even with an extra year with just those remaining before the cut next week. A lot of our best key talent has already left. Worse yet, we’re told the site will still be cut in half and there will be zero backfilling for further attrition and we still need to deliver.

This is just pure speculation on my part, but my guess is they just need it to look like we’re still supporting V2 long enough for the NXP deal to get approved. If key positions won’t be back filled and we are understaffed, how can they expect it to succeed? The more people leave, the more work there will be to go around and this will fuel more morale decline and further attrition with no severance. They are likely hoping that attrition will continue to reduce total severance payout in the end.

If you don’t have anything else lined up yet, but get cut next week, you’ll still be one of the lucky ones as this means getting a severance and an opportunity to move on to greener pastures sooner rather than later.

Only a temporary reprieve. It's a no win situation now, too many key people have already left. When the sh-t hits the fan, SM & JT will blame the employees for not executing. RTP folks, if you are smart you will get out of Q now, f'em.

OP, I think you misunderstand the word, saved. Saved in Q GD speak means cut, let go, fired, GTFO'd.

QDT saved : means $saved for the stockholders.

Merged into R&D : means big target for juicy savings come ahead of financial year end
