Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Lies and Corporate Copulation

Correct me if I'm wrong but

  • HXT got pissed because they thought they were going to have people backing the product, but QC decided to sell it to Ampere (leaving out all the other screwing done by Jacobs and what not).

  • China got pissed and NXP was not going to happen.

  • QC renigg'd the Ampere sell to make China happy

  • China will allow NXP will go through

  • QC will pretend to keep Firetail going, just long enough to make China/HXT happy

  • Fire all the people, whose lives they've already ruined.

I hope HXT reads this and realizes that they are being screwed, just like SM has done to 700 people in RTP to save his own a--. QC will try to get out of finishing or finishing with quality.

So when is the server layoff happening? How many of the 700 employees?

Linley wrote a good editorial this week on the state of ARM servers. The biggest customers don't want to buy them, they only want them to exist to get pricing concession from Intel. Now there is our problem - catch-22. We are operating a non-profit to help customers that will never buy.

OP here. Source is observation and internal validation.

As to 700 people on Server. My understanding is that 700 for a server isn't large. Intel (direct competitor operates with many more)

Currently many people are waiting to see if they get a severance and if not they will jump ship too because they have something lined up.

The poor bastards that didn't get something lined up and are still employed with no severance are riding the sinking ship to the end.

Cleaning staff told me. That there is meeting tomorrow where they show off all the open positions at QC and start tell people to move. Move or be let go because QC has offered you a job. No severance, no retention, no redemption.

Either case, there ZERO direction or presented plan. I'd argue that we could randomly elect and intern to handle this better.

As @krj has pointed out, pretty much about right, except that support may last longer than expected. There will be layoffs, but much lesser than they planned before to placate China, and the fact that people are already jumping off the sinking ship.

Yes that is basically what is happening. Would add that good people are leaving for MS, NVDA, and others that have come to RTP. Q will never be able to execute, then they will blame the employees.

RTP is happy. Everyone got a job with Intel or Apple.
