Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

On my way out

Finally made the decision to leave. So tired of all the crap that's going on here. Crappy politics and nepotism are just the tip of it all.

My advice to everybody is get out while you can. You don't need to be especially smart to see that GE is going downhill.

There's no future here.

Why leave a name when this site's default is anonymous posts?! If you don't post your name, then you don't get to call someone else out for posting anonymously.

The business units aren't being told the whole story and instead, hear the company PR garbage. GE wants to keep you until they are ready to give you the pink slip, blue envelope, brown package or whatever it is they give you when they lay you off. This site provides chatter as to what is really going on in other locations, as well as my own. GE hasn't been transparent in its communications with us and wants to control all the information. This site is where I learned that other units and locations were undergoing massive layoffs or other sh-- storms. This site made me pay more attention, prompted me to do some research, and caused me to take off my rose colored GE glasses .

I didn't read other comments, but I wish I could say 'good for you!!' because my feeling is that GE is no different from the rest of the MAJOR Corporate America companies, so the new job you get will be just as bad as the one you've just left. GE corporate culture is rotten to its heart, but from what I know, this cancer has been spreading to other corporations as well, so good luck to all of us, the real doers, trying to find a more humane place to work at!

The only thing that will happen for GE Power is higher healthcare costs, no raises or movement for the next 3-4 years. Also many factory workers will loose pay when they get moved to lower job titles if they don’t hit the streets!

Got to stay anonymous. Congrats, I did the same 4 months ago. My manager was so jealous because I was quitting my GE job to get a much better position than his. So called people in leadership are filled with lies and egos! They need to start treating people as people not just numbers or commodity.

GE is now in a difficult position for support with both political parties.

Democrats will not support a bailout if GE keeps hurting the unions, retirees, damaged communities and does not fully fund the pension.

Republicans will not support a bailout as GE has continued to be the poster child for globalization and movement of jobs from the US to Eastern Europe, Latin America, India and China.

GE's only hope is getting bailed out by sympathetic politicians, who currently aren't in control. Good luck with that!

Candidly how will being candid solve $80B in debt that Jeff created by doing $100B in bad deals buying and selling businesses?

You may have left too early. Flattery, or whatever his name is, is introducing candor and transparency to the new culture. It well may turn the company around.

Never burn a bridge in business...you never know when you need someone's help. It must be pretty sad working for the pathetic company named "GE" these days. Benefits stink, raise what is that ? Bonus, ah you could do better selling or working for the competition any day. Pension, a good benefit if you worked there prior to GE getting rid of it. The 401K options are a joke. Have you looked your returns in the plans, and don't waste your time on the GE stock (don't drink the blue kool-aid, buy low). GE needs to be investigated for how they administer their retirement plans. The stock market is cranking for obvious reasons and yet the plans available to employees are returning very low returns. I happen to snoop on the site to see what other ridiculous things the company is doing to its employees . It makes me feel good that I left that POS company GE years ago. I suggest you do the same.

Why post anonymously if you left the company. Makes me think post is has other motives other than giving advice.
