Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Which support functions will be impacted post NXP deal?

Products are complimentary but there is bound to be duplication. Which teams would be considered as overlapping and how long before there is a layoff in the combined company? NXP has the same number of employees as Qualcomm but half the revenue.

Serious answers only.

@fef agree about the back office overlaps but wouldn't sales and biz dev be Business unit specific

Sure half the revenue but higher profitability. NXP has been through the VC grind multiple times, so they run lean. The synergies will mean hits to QUALCOMM. Merging non-engineering duplicate job functions across divisions - Marketing, Finance, Sales, Bus Dev etc...the chipset group will take most hits. There will be a RIF regardless, but the NXP acquisition drives larger RIF.

You assume there will be a deal. The latest news is the China-USA trade talks ended in an impasse. ZTE is still suffering in a big way. You think China will let Qualcomm buy NXP easily now?
