fqk, if they are closing this div wth whould they hire a new GM?

I think the goal was to reduxe the expensive , barely productive titles with less exp, and asia hires..

Does it make sense that they let people go and they have new job openings now?

Of course. Replace with H1Bs and/or cheaper people with less errrrr, 'experience'.

They did it post 2015 layoffs. Same plan again.

OP is correct, google the "Qualcomm San Jose jobs" and see the number of jobs that have been posted(including Vice President / GM - Wired/Wireless Infrastructure & Networking Business) within last one month. Does it make sense that they let people go and they have new job openings now?

To answer OP's question, QCA will be closed sooner or later.

Unless you are trolling, you should just grab any other offer you have and forget about QCA. It's just a matter of time before Atheros San Jose office is closed and all jobs are shifted to India. People are quitting QCA on a weekly basis and you are thinking about joining ??

If core eng team, maybe yes, depending on the package and etc, if you don't have better offers. If testing, customer support, and etc, it's better to pass --- if you have offers from more stable companies.

@ydm - Google QCA openings. They ARE hiring. I'll let you figure out why that's happening.

I would pass. Qualcomm still needs to layoff about ~25oo US employees to meet the $1.1 billion operating expense reduction promised by Cristiano to Wall Street.

This is public information so you can google to get more background
