How many layoffs are we looking at when (and even if) Rent-A-Center is acquired?
These things never end without a major cost cutting that usually only means getting rid of as many people as they can get away with.
I'm hoping I'm wrong, but chances are that's what's going to happen here as well.
Well I was in one of the stores they shut down and sold to the competitor in December. I kept a job but also an $800 a month pay cut and went from being a store manager to a nothing.
I’m happy I quit before the layoffs happened in my area, but I’ve been trying to tell my coworkers for a long time this would happen. Glad I didn’t leave in handcuffs, cause that new manager was about to get knocked TF out too... Be well y’all! Yes, there are other jobs besides RAC in many areas especially if you learn a valid skill in today’s market. Regret not leaving sooner and (in my opinion) wasting so many years there, but we’re even. Lol!
How much more can they cut at corporate? I feel like we're running lean as it is already

Sorry to be the bearer of that news, but it's better to see the reality than be blindsided. You are just a number that costs them money. With the company unprofitable, I suspect they assume that the easiest way to save money is cut bodies. Instead of helping the field. Go find somewhere that appreciates you and your talents.
The presentation made by Engaged Capital on how the company can save money showed $300 million in savings in Corporate. That means jobs. Eliminating them. If everyone has been getting laid off lately without a buyout (250 kicked out a few months ago), then YES you can be assured that the terminations would accelerate. Be smart like many of us did, and use this good job market in the DFW area to get out before you are forced out.
