Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

No layoffs?

There has been zero talk about layoffs since the announcement about 450 jobs being cut in UK over a month ago. Does that mean that we really are doing much better and we can finally relax and remind ourselves what job security feels like?

Or am I just living in a fantasy land?

Job Security is pretty much a foreign concept these days. Try not to think about it, or kid yourself into thinking you have it.

We’re all replaceable. I should know, was packages away from COP. Landed well enough though, so at least know life doesn’t end with the slip

We still have too many people and have over qualified folks in many roles (ie - engineers doing work previously done by techs or admins). This results in a high cost organizational structure.

However, with DH gone the L48 should do much better.

In 2013 RL , jokingly, said May we should be just a shale company (some of you might remember, it was 2013 Town-hall meeting/global meeting). That time oil was @ $100 and the sky was the limit.

I guess that wasn’t a joke but it was the intent, just for right moment. Only time will tell! Best of luck to everyone.

Not to scare you, but BP, Chevron, and shell are planning layoffs this summer. Usually these companies set the seen for the rest of the followers in the industry. And the oil is at $80 (best spot to keep demand high) - higher oil price would hurt demand and the economy in general.

This industry is a total failure mainly because of the “many” stupid people running it. The same applies to the whole plane, way too many stupid people.

Watch out when they start moving people to new building, it a perfect window to let people go.

With the Email from RL today going from 5 to 3 operating regions makes me wonder if the ECO is starting...

I think we are all set on correct path for nothing but positive news only. Do not worry about layoffs here, we are positioned to provide stellar performance. There are no companies out there with lowest BOE/employee number as per reports.
