read about the suicide at QC. It's really sad. Because no one should really take their job that seriously... my understanding is the guy was a mobile app developer/Android guy. If he actually took the time to look around in SD, he would have realized his skills/experience was in huge demand. I have 4 mobile app developer opens for android and another 4 for IOS.
What a tragic waste of life over a stupid job.
I thought his cause of death was from a fall. Not a suicide.

This list does not identify those former employees who committed suicide after they were off of the books. I know of one person for sure, and there may be others. HR should be tasked to determine the true impact of the layoffs once the "employee" is gone.
Second original poster; it's just a stupid job. Chillax and give your best and try not to think too much. Yes easy to say but what else can you do.

He graduated from best enginnering school in China, (same as MIT here or IIT in india), then wasted his life in US over a low level contractor position! I am sure he will be much better off if he stayed in China
@TLmn6vR-kix Exactly. Once one is over 30 - they are mostly done in the software development field. Over 40? Almost impossible to land a job. Over 50?! Don't even think about it.
Too many Qualcomm employees work themselves to death (pun intended) and then one they the company thanks them for their service with a pink slip and a big "f--- you". The management doesn't even apologize - HR won't let them do so.

It is not likely the loss of the temp job was the only thing that he was dealing with. It was likely just the thing that pushed him over the edge. Mental illness is a helluva thing.
How many 55-60 year old Chinese men do you hire? I don't want to make this about those considerations but this guy was a Director at Qualcomm before being laid off then brought back as a consultant. I'm willing to bet the entire time he was consulting he was looking for a different job that was commensurate for his age and experience.
