Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

State Farm is a joke

I made a decision to leave and I'm so glad I did. There is no future at State Farm. With everything that's been going on here lately, I can't understand why anybody would actually want to stay here unless they really, really didn't have a choice.

Pack your bags and leave on your own terms, people, before this ship sinks completely.

"When did people who have no empathy or sympathy for others become SF's employees?"

What is this, courtesy class? I have seen the friendliest and most compassionate people at work get worn down over the past few years from being antagonized and alienated by the company, which led to hosility. The environment is toxic and culture is broken.

I read some of these replies and wonder what exactly happened. When did people who have no empathy or sympathy for others become SF's employees? When were people with that attitude become acceptable as an employee? SF used to be an employer of choice. Now they (and by they, I mean we) bring in people that have no compassion in an industry that must have it. People that have no empathy or sympathy for others into a company that was once famed for exactly that.

It’s not a joke yet, but this is a crucial time. I left before this mess started, but you better believe it’s in your benefit to be proactive with your career rather than having terms dictated to you. I have never been happier and I’ll continue to monitor this board to feed recruiting tips to my staff. I will happily keep taking some of the good State Farm people looking to relocate to my area....key word is “good”. Great thing is I can be selective and they are open to talking now. I hope this drags on for years.

State Farm can't even attract internal candidates anymore. State Farm is going to go down like GE, Sears.

Irony. SF is trying to attract younger workers, but the younger workers are the one who are bolting or not attracted to this type of environmental. My friends in college know enough to stay away.

I’m with ya. My vote is to walk. The likes of the last three commenters will be left holding the bag.

Leaving on your own terms is healthier, rather than letting them grind you down with more metrics and requirements with less staff and overtime. There is life after State Farm with much, much better working environments. Now that I am out and about in the world I have seen examples of collaborative healthy work places that are so productive and supportive. It can be done successfully and it comes via leadship. Leadership is not likely to change in the near future at SF so I agreed with OP. Do what is best for your health (physical and mental) and figure out your finances. Staying for money at the detriment of your health and self respect is not worth it. Good luck.

PS others comment was negative childishness and uncalled for. Not in spirit of layoff.com
