Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Citrix is underperforming on revenue growth

Citrix is under-performing on revenue in a growing market. The market for VDI as a whole grew 5.5% year over year from 2016 to 2017. In this same time Citrix revenue dropped 2.2 percent. In the VDI market Citrix has more than 10 competitors and all are growing revenue. The top two competitors, Microsoft and VMware, each have over 50% of the revenues of Citrix. AWS grew 53% YoY and has reached 12% of the revenues of Citrix. Citrix is focused on giggering the share price and not on innovation. For the $2 Billion that Citrix is spending on stock buybacks Citrix could buy a company or build a product that could generate $500M in revenue in a few years. Winners grow the share price by growing revenue. Losers grow the share price with stock buybacks.

If Citrix doesn't grow revenue the stock price will fall. You can only do so much manipulation. And if Citrix doesn't innovate these competitors will push it aside. But many people at Citrix like to ignore reality.

Sure... and last year you were wringing your hands about how bad the stock is. Now, that the stock is outperforming the market, you are on to the next thing. Please, quit Citrix (if you really even work here troll) and go work at Wal-Mart. I hear they gave a one time bonus of $50/year of work up to $1000 if you worked there 20 years!

Eventually investors will figure out that Citrix is playing a short term game and they will bail and the party will be over.
