Thread regarding NXP layoffs

How many total?

Do we have any idea how big was the latest round of layoffs? From posts here it is obvious that it was global, sites from all over were hit, but as for the number it's really hard to determine based just on these posts.

Also, anybody else suspects that this might have something to do with the Qualcomm acquisition?

No evidence that 10% cut is across all BUs. Base on all the rumours here: only for RF and DN and only xFSL sites. This gives me the assumption N started to axe FSL line only. No news about old N sites

What really scares me are the comments I read on Qualcomm's discussion board.

All I was hearing was that it was a 10% global cut. If you've been watching the street several analysts have been downgrading NXP as a standalone company from Buy to Hold. It's expected that if the deal does happen investors will jump all over it like they did when news came out of the South China post that is was approved. Hours later that was reported as incorrect but it jumped from 113 to 125 on that news. One analyst is predicting that - given revenues are not what they should be - that it is worth around 119 at most. Several problems with NXP, one is that given Automotive is supposedly the hot next thing it is not a standout performer - at least not delivering the sort of financial performance that the leader in the industry should be driving. So in otherwords - thats a long way of saying - the numbers are not where they are anymore to justify a 127.50 buyout price, and the street and no doubt insiders are a bit worried about that.
