So, now that analysts have downgraded Macy's estimates because its closing stores "too slowly," how long before those on top hurry to reassure them by announcing more and much faster closures?

Who cares about the lives that will be ruined by this, it's all about the numbers. Makes me sick to my stomach.
One of the biggest reasons why the phones aren't being answered is because there are no associates available! If you only have one person covering an entire area alone, the associate may be with another customer out on the floor, or may have a long line of people waiting to check out. There are many times I've had to answer the phone to get a phone number and name to call them back. The customer in the store who is waiting is the priority.
The call center phone routing is only for Women’s Shoes and it’s only on busy days.
That is true about the call centers answering the phones for the stores. I was trying to locate an item for a customer last week, and the person who answered did not admit right away that they weren't in the store. I asked them to do a search for an item and they had no idea what I was talking about. I asked her to put a manager on the phone who knew how to work the register. That's when she said they were routing the calls, and she was off site.
Most people in stores won’t admit this... Macy’s is hiring people to work in call centers to answer store calls because the stores will NOT answer their phones. So some of the stores are doing themselves in by making this happen.
She and lundgren were biggest part of the problem. Good riddance!
Its not about the numbers as they got rid of great people who could deliver numbers. Its about ego. Its about smoke and mirrors. Its about their $$. And now the will be replacing the most respected CFO in the country with another "outsider" who will undoubtedly be able to craft a narrative...
