Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Nobody under 60

The entire day today we did not get one customer who was under 60 (at best.) Not a one. Is it like this in other stores?

If that's the case, no wonder we have to close so many stores. How do you survive in a market this competitive without expanding your customer base to more than one generation? And an outgoing one, at that.

At least you had customers. We went hours yesterday with absolutely no customers whatsoever. Recently a feedback described our Sears store as walking through a graveyard.

When I used to visit stores my group called them "God's Little Waiting Rooms". A parade of wheel chairs, walkers, HovverRounds, and portable oxygen tanks.

I used to think that sears was smart to locate electronics across from appliances (where I worked). The under 20 ' s will shop in electronics and associate appliances with Sears, having become accustomed to seeing them across the aisle. Then Sears got rid of car audio and we lost some of the younger demographic traffic. We lost more audio in electronics as time went on, but the most telling disregard to the younger generation to me was the installation of a large poster board of a 70+ year old couple with game controllers in their hands, appearing to be playing a video game. Lights out.

The problem is you ask any young person about Sears and they will most likely go not no what it is or talk bad about it.

The old timers are the ones that basically still think Sears still has it. Sears tried to get the younger population, but it didn't work. The new generation will talk about Walmart, Target, Amazon, Lowes, Home Depot, Ebay etc.

Sears basically is in a tough situation since they were the ones basically screwing their customers (especially some very loyal good ones).

Sears/ Kmart get the habit prone over 60 crowd and people playing the Shop Your Way program to get free stuff. Most everybody else has long since figured out that these stores are not competitive. And everybody knows the local stores and the entire company are in danger of going out of business at any time. So the stores have to do drastic discounting in order to get people in the doors. Even with all the discounting, sales are dropping like a rock. They aren't going to get out of this trap. The company is done.

Things are moving along just as planned. No need for new customers it’s all coming to an end soon.
