Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

MGO $31million in 2017

Nice comp for putting a company near bankruptcy. She is totally incompetent for this company and role. C’mon Board take action for once.

If you made a cool $100K you would have to work for 96 years at that salary to make what MGO made in 2017. If you were one of the cool kids and made $200K it would only take you 48 years to make what she made last year.

She will make more in 2018.

And I'll bet you did better job at what you were tasked to do than she did. And you will again this year. You also worked more hours, and will again this year.

But you don't BS well enough to grab that brass ring.

At my current salary I'd have to work for eight consecutive lifetimes to make what M Go did in a year. XD

If you really want to feel bad, do the math on how many hundreds of years you'd have to work at your current wages to earn what this woman earned in just 12 months. I'm no fan of Occupy Wall St. ideology, but the compensation structure here does seem kind of out of wack. Thoughts?

She lives in Silicon Valley not Chicago. Get your facts straight....

She does travel to her Chicago mansion expensing it to Mattel. She can’t afford it with her $30m. I’m sure many heads were cut to pay for it.

Has she visited a Mattel factory yet and met those who actually make the product and earn so much less than her?

Fact is M-Go is the CEO and has been for over a year. Stop trying to make excuses for her.

Isn't the ownership of much of this in the hands of the ex-CEO and departing Executive Chairman who brought in the current CEO and created the current organization/culture? Isn't he now headed out the door to another Chairmanship after stating...https://www.wsj.com/articles/mattel-ceo-wont-hand-over-reins-until-turnaround-is-stable-1478207073?

Isn't much of the damage that has been done to SH value in the hands of this 20 year board member who became CEO and then Chairman, supported by the BOD? How long will it take the incoming Chairman to act?

After following this site for a while I can't figure out why anyone would want to work at Mattel unless you're in an executive position.

Not the best news release at this time with Mattel suffering. I feel for the people in the trenches having to worry every day if they will have a job while many many millions are being handed to an under-performer.

Talk about the EVER widening gap between the rich and the poor! This is a perfect example of how the worker bees are nothing but slaves who work their asses off in fear of losing their jobs every day while the upper echelon skims the cream off the top and rapes the company for everything they can get. They will wring the company out after the've killed it and walk away rich. The disgusting 1%. They are not leaders, they are thieves! They don't EARN their obscene wages, they steal them. The middle class is dying.

In addition to her $30 mil she has cost shareholders almost $6 billion. She has accomplished absolutely zero in her career. It’s all a facade. Anyone can go to Google and sell search advertising. It’s the only option! Groupon a bust. McKinsey people have no idea how to execute, they live in a world of theory. All of the Wall Street analysis and institutional investors know its a mistake. With so many excellent choices why stuck with this?

M-Go is paralyzed and utterly incapable; she has had a full year to confirm that she was THE WRONG CHOICE. She is not a TOY PERSON, has no product/hardline experience. Mattel is bleeding out daily and cannot survive while she gets a slow and costly education. Time for Mar-Go to Go-go. I like another poster's suggestion to use her salary to hire 100 more EXPERIENCED TOY people who are infinitely more capable of saving this company.

Assuming that 9 million estimate is fur real, friends, how does that salary compare to what Eckert/Stockdown/Sinclair(HA) were paid in a year? Eckert was the only smart one of the four, and he was smart enough to be long gone before the cave-in.

She never has been nor will she ever be a product person. She is your typical consultant filled with buzzwords, tech is the answer to everything and cost cutting. There is nothing to show as we approach a year and a half. Not even a coherent strategy. No product or content pipeline. Let’s just move on and replace her with what we need, a global executive with an entertainment and product track record of success.

So every week MGo makes more money than anyone below Director Level makes in a year!

Seems fair.

Maybe if she can get some Russians to loan the company another Billion dollars later this year she will have earned it. Of course that will not happen. Even Russian money launderers know they would never see a nickel of that as return on investment.

Actually, about $25MM of Magoo's $31MM is in stock options. Since the stock price has dropped those options are worthless.

So she is getting $9.6MM for 2017.

Every two weeks that is $369K

Every Work Day that is approx. $36K

Every Hour would be approx. $4550.00

Every Minute would be approx. $75.00

Every Second would be approx. $1.26

We could have approx. 100 people at $100K for what she is paid. That's some pretty good Design and Engineering talent, who might just come up with great products to help pull us out of this tailspin. She is obviously doing nothing to accomplish this.

$31M FOR UNMITIGATED FAILURE

...AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE...

FORMER CEO, BOARD MEMBER AND EXEC CHAIRMAN said this in NOV2016 WSJ...

M-Go makes,

$1,203,846 every two weeks,

$85,753 every day

$10,719 an hour

$178 each minute

$3 every second

Not bad, of course that's before tax.

For a little perspective, CEO of Bank of America took home $21,791,812 in 2017.

Intel CEO's pay tops $21 million after 'exceptional' year. Apple CEO Tim Cook salary in 2017 was $12.8 million. Elmo Musk made $45,936 in total compensation.

Chief Executive Officer at Hasbro, made $10,373,013 in total compensation. Google CEO makes around $200 million.

Relax everyone, it's just what CEOs make. She left a bunch of $$ on the table at Google, so Mattel had to make her whole.

Does she have to prove she's worth the expense: yes, and I imagine she will be held to task by large investors.

S---s not to be one of those people who gets paid that much... but let's not act like it's the end of the world.

Can you imagine how much more she could have made if the stock hadn't dropped in value from $30.91 the day she was hired to the current price $13.24. Whats that, like 60% value evaporated in a a year, no wonder you're fed up.

And one of our board members was fired by nike for inappropriate behavior and we still keep and overpay him. Where are our values. We are a company for children! Another questionable decision by the company.

This is the reason why Mattel is a complete joke. Grossly overpay for a poor performer. No accountability for anyone at the CEO or President level. Provide a ridiculous severance deal. Why even try. You are better off fired. How can shareholders accept this?

OMG MGO...

No WONDER...

execs pulling in HUGE compensations, laying off rank and file workers.

What can’t anyone not see here?!?

RD, GW, SCota, good man, etc etc etc...

VPs, SVPs, GMs, EVPs, people who collect so much but don’t do squat

you have a content team that can’t make content.

Hopeless
