Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Captain's leaving the sinking ship!

Jerry has announced he's retired and the Sales VP Paul Mountford just got a promotion to CEO.

It feels like Jerry's taken the money and is doing a run for the hills, while Mountford gets to catch the grenade. It was interesting that Jerry was also very quiet at SKO and Mountford did lots more of the chat.

Now that the IPO mantra-chanting mouthpiece of Thoma Bravo has been removed, TB can now get on selling Riverbed as is their documented modus operandi.. just in time for the April 24th 3 year anniversary..

Spotify? They just went public. How did they open their purse for Spotify? Must be another Private Equity firm you are referring to because no technology company would have a need for both Riverbed and Spotify. PE's would be looking to cash out on the Spotify IPO and not buy in. I am confused please enlighten me.

There have been some rumours floating around now for a few weeks of a buyer, although it looks like that buyer just opened their purse for Spotify.

Riverbed seemed to be his baby, I wonder how much $$ he took to leave. So many companies hope for a buyer, so many don't get one. Many companies who were iffy, like FireEye, come back in a small way, that's probably the best to hope for.

What are the chances he was asked to leave, seems quite abrupt. Also, sales numbers are great YoY and unlike last q1 which was followed by layoffs which was unsurprising, so curious what the future holds! Hey at least it wasn't Peranich at the helm now!

I predict a big change coming, possibly acquisition, merger or divestiture within the next month.

Nice to read these rumors guys. Keep dreaming of a selloff. Not happening anytime soon. Though it is interesting that J would leave now, when he said that IPO was coming next year.

The last 3 quarter sales increases do not show this as a sinking ship. Not that everything is all rosy either.

Jerry has always wanted to stay independent and refused sell to a larger entity. As you say his departure opens the door for a sale of the company. The sale has probably already happened and his leaving was either required by the acquirer or he does not want to be around after the sale or both.
