H1B hiring is not about salary or qualifications. It is about subservience. Employees hire young folks on H1B because they obey everything that boss ask them until they get green card. Green card processing take several years. If you hire a citizen, they won't stay for too long in such a slavery kind of work culture.

Not a bad idea to deport all H1Bs and replace them with remaining work force.This would feature QCOM in a chapter 8 called Implosion in history books.History books need syllabus upgrade anyway.

Agreed. Wouldn’t hire a BS student she. You can hire an MSEE or MSCS out of those same schools. You don’t really get into the difficult classes until after undergrad.

PhDs are worthless cause they just want to get paid to continue on their research b

@vdp

Where did you get these numbers? You must be from some Management department.

It's very hard to satisfy technical needs with a Bachelor's degree. If you have interviewed any candidates, you will know how difficult it is to find a right guy to get the job done. All the sharp Americans with bachelor's degree from Stanford, etc start their own company or get s---ed into Google/Apple. And the rest couldn't even answer why capacitor blocks DC!

90 percent of the engineering jobs in qcom or other hi tech company does not really need masters degree in engineering

A bachelors degree holder is well qualified to dispense off these jobs

Remember I said 90 percent

Even thirty years ago when I was in college the bulk of the EE students were foreign-born.

Let's face it- Lots of hard work to get a degree in something that will make you a "nerd" is not something enough Americans want to do. So we import people who are willing to put in the effort. This isn't a political or corporate issue. It's just that our culture does not produce enough engineers to satisfy our needs.

I suspect that those who complain the most about H-1B's don't even have legitimate electrical engineering degrees.

Old dude ygm, I am a naturalized citizen and my observation has been as follows. I am a beneficiary if this system but hey what do you know, I just took a job that came my way when I was way younger. Life takes you places. Ask the gold rush guys if you could go back to the California circa 1800's. That said I haven't understood how h1b can be justified when citizens are losing jobs. In all my companies citizens lost jobs while h1b were retained and I always said if I was let go in favor of a citizen, peace. That didn't happen but. That's beside the point. The point is h1b are hired because there "is no local talent available or didn't apply for that position" in case of a mass layoff that argument falls flat, this is a loophole in the system. Companies should be required to keep equivalent American workforce. On flip side if h1b's thought there was this nagging uncertainty they would not be willing to come in required numbers. Again look corporate America has always won over the middle class. Whether you like it or not.

I think Bernie's policies of FREE college needs to be seriously considered by Americans of all stripes. Look my theory about why foreign born students make up 90% of MS grads is simple - CRUSHING student debt. If you want native born students to pursue higher degrees please make college affordable! That's all it takes.

And in the coming election get rid of all those who are against that and for corporations in general.

I’m an old white guy -given that like 90 percent of the MS grads in computer engineering aren’t US citizens. The issue is here and not with the folks from Asia.

As a Broadcom employee I can tell say you guys are phucked. There is no future for you. Lawsuits will increase your licensing business is screwed as people will sue you for your silly exorbitant royalty fees.

Get ready for pain and hurt cause it is coming... You will be out of the fruit company and galaxy company completely. Because of your business model your company is the number one hated semi company in this world.
