How does Ilana Mercer think she can judge this? She has never been hired anywhere. She has never worked in a team. She has never experienced diverse vs non-diverse teams. She has never seen or experienced any kind if racial discrimination. It‘s as if someone who has only eaten porridge her whole life is denouncing French gourmet cooking.
So what about all the people who don‘t want H1Bs to be hired? They are also arguing against merit-based hiring and would rather see less qualified Americans to get a job over higher qualified H1Bs.
So merit-based hiring is only good as long as certain people feel they can benefit from it. As soon as it becomes a problem, they demand their own kind of affirmative action.
