Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

DF Forum Enterprise Technology

  1. You said there was no time to reskill, yet Vivify was started over a year ago? Too many of us. This means it's all about cutting the headcount. If that is the case, just say so.

  2. We were told spouses would not be taken into account. DF said they would. Plus, if you and your spouse are impacted, how are you really supposed to put more than one location not knowing where the other may end up.

  3. The process is from March 6th to July 31st (or 5 mos) and you said you learned not to keep people on edge that long. How is this different than the time period the managers were on edge (Oct - Feb)?

  4. You said you wanted the best people in the right positions. How is that possible when you are keeping poor performers who are in understaffed roles?

  5. Does leadership have a plan to regain the confidence and trust of the workforce?

  6. Transparency - we've heard this term repeatedly. How are you being transparent when many of the aspects of the plan are unknown to the masses (including numbers, the big picture, etc.).

  7. What was spent on CDE and what was produced? Who was responsible and what were the consequences?

  8. Whose idea was ISD and why didn't it work? Many feel they were forced to move there and are now being forced out (of the company).

  9. We're being told the reason all of this is going down (co-wide) is because of the need to better serve the customer in more ways. If this is true, why is claims a nightmare (working or filing them)?

If you are talking about confident and courageous leadership, answer these questions in Wednesday's forum!

DF is a total joke. Imagine if you went to Facebook and their head of technology was a claims guy that didn't know how to write a line of code. Asking this guy questions is useless because he is a total bum.

Irrelevant. Vivify has zero to do with anything "industry standard." Nor will it produce anything even remotely workable, much like CDE. Except it'll be cheaper, because even burning a billion dollars on a bonfire would be cheaper than CDE.

OMG that bonfire comment is hilarious but unfortunately true!

@Sn0oxfh-1lrw -yes & no: Don't think for a second that there aren't company people being paid to monitor sites like this and report back. So, yes, they will get the questions. And no, the larger point of posting to a forum such as this is to get the idea out there to other disenfranchised employees. OP is not the only person to have these thoughts. There is strength in numbers, even if it is only for support...

Yes, because posting on an anonymous message board will get your questions to the leaders. smh

So you’re saying you had a year to look at industry postings see what skills were in demand, and reskill appropriately to increase your likelyhood of landing a position at SF or a better one at a different company? It’s not like Vivify’s end goal was a shock.

Those are excellent questions that our current senior leaders will not have the courage to address. Not even if they were hand delivered in Wed's meeting.

There will be job discrimination against those 2:2 and higher performers losing jobs compared to the sub performers that are guaranteed jobs. Records can be subpoenaed.

Management, especially senior leadership, will not be trusted for years to come. This process will always be remembered and passed on to new employees. SF is ripping families apart during this transition and will continue to do so afterwards.

State Farm is no longer a nice place to work. I would stress to anyone thinking of applying to keep looking. Don't fall for the niceness offered in the interviews. They will up their game just to get bodies in the door. Bodies already in-house and would have re-skilled 18 months ago had they asked us. (Another piece of a class action.)
