I do not believe we have seen the complete fallout from this situation, I believe that there are mechanisms in place at the momment that all that is happening is prolonging the inevitable.

Sure there is some properties be purchased in our community, albeit at reduced pricing, mainly cherry picking.

The true impact will be seen late summer early fall when mortgage holders will be forced to proceed with foreclosures when all other options have run the course and there will be no perspective buyers in a already depressed market, bloated by a glut of properties.

I forsee a very hard winter for our once proud community,

Some are. But at like 25% discounts from what they sold for 2 years ago. and that’s for the nice ones. Buyers market, and they know they can be choosy and low ball.

Are houses selling every week in Sidney like Ed Sadler says in this article? Or are over 100 houses in the process of foreclosure as we speak like this other article claims?

a very good and accurate desciption of the community, the social eviorment is very nepotistic and caustic.

So sad how many lives are and were ruined because of this.

Unless you have personally experienced the misfortune of living in Sidney, you simply cannot imagine what it was like. Cabela's was the town, everyone and everything was connected to Cabela's, there was no middle ground. You either agreed with the leadership or you we're blackballed. The folks at church, at Wal-Mart, at school events, the golf course, everywhere, were your co-workers. And after you moved your family to Sidney, you were stuck unless you could afford to move away and start over. There are no other jobs within 150 miles. So even though this is a Cabela's board, for those who could not jump off of the sinking ship, Cabela's and Sidney are one in the same. Sad but true.

In a majority if other locations those being laid off have the opportunity for employment in other venues.

Sidney and Cabela's were intracantly tied to one other.

The devastating affects of the subsequent purchase and reductions has negatively impact Cabela's as a whole, but know where worse than Sidney.

The whole economic structure was built around the Cabela's corporate, distribution center and Store 1.

Gone are the 60K+ salaries and all that is left is mostly 12 to 15 dollar and hour jobs.

Sure they say there will be 500 or so jobs left in Sidney, most of which are at a significantly lesser pay scale.

So you are correct this site is about Cabela's lay offs. Yet Sidney and Cabela's were symbiotic partners.

What happened to one has impacted the other.
