Any GAs who still want to do creative chalk signage, look into Trader Joe's. I worked there prior to WFM, and, while I hated mg managers there at the time, at least the company wasn't a clusterf--k like Whole Foods is.

Omg you literally never said you have a full-time job. You said you do freelance as a "side gig" and that's it. Maybe you should proof-read yourself. "Steady pay" could mean anything, dipshit.

i have a FT job AND i do freelance.
I built a reliable network of clients.
I proved my worth through quality, speed of production/turn around, reliability. As a result, i gained more clients.
I make decent money from my 9-5, and the rest is a bonus to me. Any given week my freelance delivers $275-$650 depending on the projects/needs. So please, I used my head, any idiot SGA still rambling should get their s together. I work my a** off in both worlds and i get paid. I can handle it. Not everyone can. But to think they can have a steady career at a bigbox store doing handdrawn and graphic work is asinine.
Using my head is what GOT me where I'm at.
Not everyone has the self-discipline or interest in doing full-time freelance. It's unreliable income. Use your head.
why does everyone seem to think going to another big company for sign work is a good idea.
i make more than i ever did as freelance for small businesses, restaurants, and farmers markets as a sign designer.
more than enough to make up the difference for benefits. yeesh.
and thank g i was laid off 3 years ago and established myself before the flood of unemployed artists. ands its only my side gig.
i have regular steady pay and my side gig
helps to diversify.
