Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

12 dollars and beyond

What are you hoping for? There is no plan. There is no miracle product. There is only the consequences of lack of accountability, lack of decisiveness and an unwillingness to change the way things are run. If you are a fan of survivor then stay tuned.

God. Do you know how many people will be outed for uttering "best practices" in their first sentence?

No consumer goods company can survive and be successful with the same inverted triangle setup that Mattel has. Too many piglets s---ling at too high a price, while really doing nothing.

Cut Upper Management (VP and above) by 1/3 by end of Q3. That should be the next restructuring.

Make EVERYONE justify their existence in the company. If they use ANY buzzwords during their pleading they should be removed immediately.

Action in the right direction, or goodbye.

Hey M-Go and RD, time for an employee opinion survey, to get the measure of how people feel. This MBA School tactic is next on the list to do in “how to run a company “ book you got at Harvard, usually take 8 months to complete and will buy you more time on the payroll. Being a pro-active executive and accomplishing absolutely nothing , the Mattel business model.

Company officers buy/sell the stock at regular intervals. It’s an 10b5-1 plan.

Congratulations.

You are now in acquisition territory. Get ready to be bought out and then saddled with debt.

Eventually carved up and sold by the remaining brands with any leftover equity. There’s a Chinese company or venture capital group out there trying to put funds together to buy out the company and sell it off in pieces.

Huge changes? How is that going to happen when you still have layers and layers of vps, svps, evps, gms etc?

Then you cut the actual people that work????? You’re in a row boat with 1 rower and 9 people telling the guy how to row.

Mattel is a culture of talkers not doers. The doers are gone. All that’s left are the BS ers.

A high priced item is not going to save this company. Look at mga’s lol. It’s pretty much just a packaging gimmick at 10 bucks.

You don’t need a “thingmaker”. No kid does. And by the way while you’re at it why don’t you make a new place that will sell that overpriced piece of hooey.

I know. Sell it at the holographic store.

Yo Phoenix: Is this that whole darkest before the dawn scenario? Not buying it. Explain why Senior Management sold all their stock a few days ago.

According to a Mattel spokesperson, Thingmaker's debut has been pushed back to fall 2018 to give it enough time to further enhance both the 3D printer device and its companion app. So I guess we can expect to see it showing up in stores around September?

Just like the phoenix, Mattel will rise again. Huge changes have happened, major opportunities taken. The disruption of entire categories is on the horizon, with Mattel leading the way. That’s all I can say.

Agree 100%. I'm enjoying my front row seat to this well-deserved and long overdue "come to Jesus" moment. I feel sorry for the few remaining talented people there, but you've all seen this train wreck coming and had plenty of time to make other plans. Life is better outside the assylum called Mattel. Bask in the glow of it burning to the ground. I'll bring the marshmallows.
