Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Down We Go...

This is a slow, downward spiral. The “plan” from the top is to cut $650 million in operating costs just to break even and take on more debt at the same time. The “restructuring” has just meant cutting jobs from the top to the lowest levels with no strategy behind any of the decision making. There are no new product lines or SKUs planned that will have any significant impact on our revenue. The stock just continues to free fall into junk status. M-Go and RD seem panicked and full of nervous laughter and the execs at the top just look dazed and confused. If there was any hope of a turn-around, it’s a distant memory. We are going down fast and no amount of WONDER can save us. With no plan, no money and no product, there’s nowhere to go but down.

The ones with actual talent and drive will be fine elsewhere. I’m sure it will be a shock to realize how spoiled you are. But you can survive. The ones that have actually been phoning it in all this time will have to find employment somewhere else. Like the food service industry. Don’t wait until you get bought out. Act while you still have your own choices.

Start looking NOW unless you are an old timer still waiting for the package deal. The ship is sinking fast and the market will be flooded with toy job hunters! Maybe it's time to consider get out of the toy business and work in a different industry.

Was there a BORED meeting this week? Anyone know what happened? Is Mattel filing BK? Layoffs? Any change at all? More slow death?

The Upper Managers don't understand basic business. You don't grow the bottom line by hacking away all your talent. You grow the bottom line by growing the top line. Business 101.

Instead these nincompoops continue to chop away at the people who have the talent and ability to come up with the next killer app toy, while keeping the ponderous echelon at the top, s---ing off all the resources.

Sounds like that solid TRU business plan. Heard that was a success.
