Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Is it just engineering that has all the problems ?

This board seems to focus totally on Enggineers. I am very sure there are boat load of problem in other functions as well. What are they not getting axed equally ?

Note - Granted Engg. % will be higher w.r.t others, but all are equal when its time to axe!

No, it has to be rotten top down, left right. From my experience, if one part of the company, there are other parts that are bad.

Yes, Program Management , Product Management only hires all stars. Finance team only has Wall Street wiz kids.

It would be trick to identify amd fire useless employees as they are normally very good at playing office politics and a-- kissing. They have very strong 'skills' in these area!!!! Of course, you need an extremely stupid manager to make this happen, which q seems to have plenty of.

The board recently announced a 1bn saving in operating expenditure from SG&A.

I suspect legal, finance and IT, HR etc will see harsher cuts than engineering.

The majority of posters on here appear to be engineering employees. They’ll tell you they could do any of those roles themselves and so therefore we should just fire them all.

They’ll then argue that we need a non engineering focused CEO to grow the business without seeing any irony in that.

So if we’re firing those with poor analytical skills as well as those with poor grammar and spelling, it’s a very good thing this board is anonymous.
