Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Optimistic

Working at Mattel has been rough sometimes. Layoffs s---, we all can agree on that. I feel for those let go. I've been lucky so far, but that could change, and I know that. People come and go come and go again. There are some really negative people on this site, some are trolls and have zero idea on what is really happening in our company. Yes, there are challenges and we may get cynical with a lot of corporate speak we hear sometimes, but one cannot deny that the optimism internally is a little infectious and growing. Some may not agree, and rightly so because they personally haven't seen improvements yet in their departments. I have, and it's been positive. BUT, if I were fired tomorrow I wouldn't wish anything but the best for those left behind.

For the A-holes trolls on this site, s--- it! For current Mattel employees hoping they make it, best of luck.

Kudos to us. I'm optimistic.

Doesn’t matter how optimistic you want to be. Not while Mattel continues to reinforce a top heavy culture where accountability is spread like peanut butter so no one needs to actually make a call on things. I’ve never seen a place so lopsided with more people talking about decisions rather than actually making decisions. So and so reports to so and so and so on.

Many shareholders and employees are positive.......that there is another group of executives that can do better than the current group! They deserve to be Called out for their jargon spouting, cliche driven town hall presentations. Their results as leaders are driving a prominent American company into the ground. We are also positive about them earning lottery winnings for disasterous results and lack of tangible plan that drives improved results. They don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt being too slow to act on the cultural problems in the company and even slower at improving business model. This is fact.

Couldn’t agree more! It is you attitude, not your aptitude that will determine your altitude. Rock on whomever you are for being a beacon of positivity.

This company is a complete disaster with the most incomptent management to be found. Just a short amount of time before it declares CH 11.

Optimism internally is a little infectious and growing??????

Where??? At the top of the ivory tower? In Senior, Senior Level meetings where the deluded and incompetent meet to compare their latest supercar and real estate purchases?

"We forsee fewer headwinds in the pipeline, and have the bandwidth to support the throughput when the markets are ready for our game-changing strategies!"

4-5 years is a long time to be hearing the same thing quarter after quarter, year after year! OP, you must admit that. And usually layoffs are a reset, not standard business protocol every year for as many years as we've had to endure at Mattel.
