Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

More or fewer layoffs?

Just wondering, do people here think we would have had more layoffs had Broadcom managed to take over or if we'll have more layoffs now that we are again "safe" but in the same mess we were in before the whole takeover saga started?

I personally think we're worse off now. Qualcomm uses layoffs as a band-aid, and I don't see it stopping any time soon. Broadcom would have had one big round of layoffs, but that would have been it.

I think they (CA & Co driven...) will cut aggressively. They need to prove a lot and it'll be all about profits now.

Quicker layoffs - April 11 or 12.

Broadcom does targeted layoffs at groups that don‘t make profits or spins off business units that don‘t reach profit goals.

Q has a savings target and executes it by doing across-the-board cuts.

So perhaps Q lays off fewer people, but if you are in a profitable part of the company, it might be highly unfair that you are let go.

Agree with OP. Hopefully activist shareholders will get rid of the dead weight immediately if they can get the Jacobs family out of the picture. But not too hopeful...

Nobody can answer that with accuracy.

It's behind us now and was not to be.

We face what we face now.
