Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Call center closure question

I have heard from a very reliable source that Charlotte call center has stopped hiring for customer service reps. The person told me that they do not have the call volume. If one leaves they are not replacing. Our team is the same way, but we are not in customer service. The source I know believes that they will shut the charlotte center down and keep Georgia and Iowa opened.

Any truth to this? Is Charlotte call center really slated to be closed?

Back up, The Earthlink deal was just a merger. Nobody bought anyone. Earthlink needed to get big, in light of Century link/level 3 and other combinations going down recent.

Windstream with their infinite wisdom jumped on board as they have done with all the other stray dogs to come down the pike.

In the world of M and A the Earthlink name went away because WIN was the larger concern.

I'm ill because my layoff January 17 I know in my heart was to make some room for those ELK techs. And it isn't over yet!

Speaking of the larger firm calling the shots, my friends in the SE, know that the larger Amsouth Bank merged with Regions. Amsouth in control choose to take the Regions name because they thought Amsouth brand was geographically limiting. I say that because in this fast paced M and A world (can you say Tmobile-Sprint) details matter.

I hope they don’t shut the entire center because they will put detrimental departments in danger like the offline group, business reps, etc. Not saying that since those departments are there, Charlotte is for sure safe. Only time I will tell.

Has anyone heard about other closures? With ELNK migration this 4th q - I'd expect slimming down there.

Wow - come here for news and instead bash fellow employees. Just as an FYI and former Windstream tech - Windstream was sh-- long before Earthlink was even a consideration. Speaking to techs from various companies - WIndstream ILEC is a three ring circus. But - go ahead and blame your woes on someone else.

We are all confused why someone thought Earthlink was a good purchase. It’s been one disaster after another dealing with their dispatches. You can ask anybody in the field, any dispatches coming from them are horrid compared to the other clecs. Their repair call centers are just clueless. My ten year old daughter knows more than they do

That’s what happens when you have a call center that transfers calls so many times the customer makes a full circle back to the original person they spoke with. Why does this baffling you people? The call center and repair teams were unbelievably difficult to work with. My favorite is when someone called and they would tell them they weren’t a customer. I could pull records and see they had been paying a bill since 1998. I’m still perplexed as to why we purchased EarthLink.
