Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

"Just keep doing what you're doing"

The only thing my manager said to every question i asked him this Monday. No clue as to what I am supposed to do next in my project. Terrible. Btw I was spared but have decided to leave. Any tips on managing the job search process while your manager piles stuff on you. What do you guys do? Outright refuse? Make up excuses or artificially delay?? Take a sick day every week.? I consider myself safe for a window of 4 months which slides by a day every day. Job search is not trivial particularly after being put on trivial projects involving rote testing out in the field for years.

Manager is trying to tell you:

While(1){ searchNextJob(true); };

Same here, was spared, but opted for the package.. I told my manager that I am not giving him more than 50% of my time for the remaining days.. He played the "you're not fired, it's your choice" card, though. I don't care.. If he doesn't like it he can fire me straight away, won't make any difference anyway.. It's not like he is a great manager to me anyway.

That's a good question. QCOM is such a culture of micro-management, it's not funny. My worthless manager sits in the lab, does nothing, but distract people and keep an eye on them.

He also only micro-manages the people actually working. He ignores those doing nothing.

Glad I was selected for the layoff.
