He pretty much repeated the below poems in the post. 5g,iot,auto,ai etc. without any confidence.

What was the guidance provided at the con call? Did they tell Wall Street analysts that the future as going to be bleak?
Oracle also had a great quarter, but it's stock tanked because guidance of Oracle's cloud biz was mediocre.
Also with the current market conditions a drift towards $40-45 range is possible. Double up if the market sinks (say ~20%), it might be able see low 30's as well.
Once its settles there, anything can happen !
Omagine you are an investor. If you think a company is not putting satisfying forecast on the table, then you won't buy its stock. That's probably why Q is planning to reserve $20B buyback. They have a commitment for fiscal year 2019 and if you heard as an investor from the company they promised win, the company will do everything (selling asset, buybacks, layoffs, customer wins) to achieve this, depending on which is the fastest/easiest way. Then you will be convinced and buy the stocks. This not the case now. Now do the math what will happen this year.

The AH bump in the stock price is essentially due to FB. With the given situation, will consider buying again at $40 in few weeks.
Indeed mngt team repeated 5G several times which should be driver for 2019.
But there is more: they mentioned that if they cannot buy that company by July 25, a very large buyback program of $B20-30 is planned. The last mammoth one was $12B in 2015 where 5000 people fired.
They have planned $1.6B buyback already and burned 30% of it in 1st quarter (and axed 1500 heads only in CA). Seems they are struggling with the stock price quite a lot.
This year will be quite challenging for Q!!
So based on the final comment, SM is here to stay.

Given the situation Qualcomm cannot afford to have poor earnings and/or forecast. Likely it will all be good and rosy.
Also speculating, they will state they "believe" that NXPI deal will be "somehow" happen.
Stock will go up 5% is my guess.
