You can’t make salaried people work for temp agencies without benefits.

Factually incorrect. You can do precisely that. Lay them off then offer a temp agency contract. Not pleasant, but you sure can do it.

These professionals may stay but very short term until they find a better place.

QCOM should fire all of the engineers and stick to what they are good at, flipping real estate.

Why in the world M building? That's a whole lot of good enginners doing meaningful work.

That's where I expected the least to happen. I guess I was wrong.

Will W follow ? Thats a huge amount of expensive real estate. Could turn it into dorm rooms for the floods of H1Bs

What benefits can they cut next ?

  • add employee premiums on the healthplan; every $1 a direct 1 for 1 'saving'

  • 401k matches need trimming, another $1 for $1 saving !

  • ESPP discount, strip it !! They love the stock they'll just buy it anyway

  • 3rd party contracts are GREAT. We can keep lowering the $ rate until they quit ! Yeah. Self lay off !

Most likely they will do what they've been doing the last 3-4 years. Convert all the full-time employees to contractors, per a 3rd party contract company, and let them have their job (if they want them). They've been doing this with a lot of their orgs - IT, clerks, admins, facilities, QREF, etc. Saves a whole lot of $$$ doing it. And they know good ol' Union Tribune doesn't have worthwhile journalists to track the story. They don't even have to use the WARN act and pay out their a$$es.
