Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Advice from ex laidoff Qualcomm employee: Good things are wiating for you outside Qualcomm

I was laid-off by Qualcomm in 2015....I am not trying to brag but if it brings any comfort to all

my friends here, I was able to find a much better job ( Great manager/ team, working on cutting edge technology that directly improves peoples lives and health, almost 50% higher pay with better Stocks , bonuses and benefits ) in one of the fastest growing San Diego Biotech companies within 2 months. I was able to use my Severance pay from Qualcomm instead to make a down payment on my first home in San Diego.

I also realized that the layoff helped me get out of my comfort zone and take a leap from the Electronics /Telecommunication industry into the Healthcare/ Biotech sector. Something that I always wanted to do but couldn't muster the courage to pursue.

Sure I was stressed out, pessimistic and depressed for few days after the layoff, but staying optimistic and focused ultimately helped me move on to the next chapter in my life.

Now you wonder....Getting laid off was not that bad at all?? Right???

To all my friends or Ex Collegues who may have gotten affected, I want to emphasize that you are valuable, smart, Intelligent and hardworking. There are companies out there waiting to hire you for your valuable skills, expertise and talent. Stay positive and persistent...things will defiantly turn around :)

I experienced the same thing as OP...I left Q during 2015 layoffs, but I found a job with Telecomm company doing the same thing I was doing in Q...I got higher title, higher pay and great boss and great work environment. There are things about Q I still miss...First and foremost friends..I will cherish and miss the people I used to work with, in Q...But, I will never miss the toxic environment, political Directors and Sr Directors (or should I say Dictators)...

I know it is hard..But try to stay positive and don't get too comfortable with the job search. I assure you, with your skill set, you are wanted...Heck, I was able to get a great job in my mid 50's, I am sure most of you can as well..

I wish all of you fair winds and following seas...

How can you be an ex-laid off Q employee? The only way for that to happen is to be rehired by Q.

@OP thank you. It’s great that you took the time to write this.

QC has lost its way and board members will do anything they can to keep their jobs for a few more years.
