Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Upstate NY management staff pushing junk out the door

Why Is pushing what orders we have left out the door. No regard for quality, cell leaders are pushing quality staff to let stuff slide in final assembly. What trademark stamp will this leave for the NY plant? To get as much work done before the mass layoff coming? Get all the work done before the electric city closes?

Customers have really lost faith in GE and complain bitterly that they cant talk to any experts anymore about their equipment problems.

GE Power has a very bad quality, and customer service issues.

The Power Answer Center PAC is simply a joke filled with answer center types with no product knowledge instead of experts customers want to speak to. This creates a very negative impression of GE Management arrogance

GE Cesspool Of Poor Quality

GE has become a cesspool of poor quality, low expertise, and bloated beauracracy like the Power Answer Center PAC Atlanta where people with little o0r no expertise play service engineer at the answer center.

GE used to be an engineering and manufacturing power house filled with experts who were close to customers. Now GE is a six sigma cesspool of low quality at every corner

The GE turbine generator product lines have many problems and reliability issues introduced by bad designs and manufacturing changes made by six sigma types with little product knowledge.

This is particularly true with the 324 Model and 390 model generators in addition to other generator models that are basically garbage with core support, key bar, and massive field end winding issues. We see units with serious and very expensive issues after just 2 years of operation. Its so pathetic, and customers who have long term history with GE products are disgusted by this low quality.

The turbine manufacturing and assembly enterprise has systems and standards that control the methods and disposition of deviating parts and assemblies. This relies of experienced, expert engineers from turbine and generator engineering to disposition deviations and quality control to actually control how things are checked, and deviations are reported.

The problem in the past has been when there are people in the system who don't know what they are doing, or six sigma type managers that over ride engineering based dispositions, or deliberately violate all of the above, which is an integrity issue.

Unfortunately, since around 1998 six sigma type managers have screwed up the business and made many ill advised design and methods changes that has re-introduced many major field problems and equipment failures that we fixed decades ago. This is the worst with the generator product line in an attempt to minimize normal and necessary hand fitting work during assembly. We have new machines that are having major failures in less than 2 years that typically didn't happen much, or took 20 years of operation. We have a very bad reputation with customers because of this. GE now has a very bad reputation, especially when they deal with the useless Atlanta Power Answer Center PAC candy stripers about these issues instead of real experts in turbine and generator engineering who know what they are doing.

Management that did all this are self serving clowns, and generally are nor real turbine or generator engineering experts, just political hacks. GE Power is a mess now instead of engineering and manufacturing power house filled with real experts

No haha! You and only you, who feels something is wrong, has the opportunity to do something about it! Take the damn pics with your cell if they truly exist! I'm sure you already know that you can take all the pictures you want, cant be punished if your not giving away any trade secrets so to speak. But you would only be forwarding to GE folks so no concern there. As far as 301 goes, I doubt they would have a problem with someone standing up for a actual quality concern, and if they did, they equally could be made a example of, very easily, but again I highly doubt they would! So if your not blowing smoke on this thread, do what needs to be done, if you are blowing smoke, take it somewhere else. Many folks truly want to see things turn around and maintain their jobs for the foreseeable future, people not on that page should be marginalized and shown the door!!

Haha, as if the union will let you take those pictures. They're covering for the management now, and if you cross them they will run you out. They don't realize they are now sealing their gate by covering for the poor quality going out the door. This is part of what having a union shop is supposed to prevent (bad quality), but that's obviously not important to 301 now.

It's all a numbers game. They think if they try to show they got the work done they can save their sorry asses.
