The company is quiet on this so they will likely trickle this over a period. To get an idea if the size a comparison with Intel may help. Intel did ACT layoff included vsp isp erp for 12000 employees for 1.2B cost in 2016, the packages were very generous and targeted older and senior employees. QC is targeting 1B saving which is 20% Lower. If they offered similar packages would trend to 9k, assuming they cut half the targeted costs through other means, a fair number would be 4 to 5k. Considering it employees 34k and being less aggressive on head count reduction a 10% haircut of say 3500 seems more reasonable

Well I can talk about MST , the two useless VPs are safe one Sr director took Package
One director also took package they all ready have job in intel , but they should have sacked half of the directors which they did not , one VP they should have sacked which they did not , instated they sacked Sr engineers and staff engineers this classic Qualcomn stuff save useless VPs and Sr directors
@huf - as you said, this sums it up...
In a few years Q will be a tired old bunch of licensing with some bedraggled over the hill business units trying to sell prior generation chips into every diminishing markets of kitchen appliances.
BTW, I did volunteer and leaving in Sept
3500 seems reasonable. But spread out this time. Very few press statements, zero actual detail. "no story here, move on". No big recruitment fairs this time; Q was pretty embarrassed at the spectacle of 1000 employees all interviewing on the lawn.
