Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

what's the plan B for NXP acquisition?

Shouldn't Qualcomm now eye on some smaller auto semiconductor or startup company that does not need approval of antitrust regulatory?

Pay the fine and walk off. May be PJ should buy NXPI instead of Qualcomm. shell out 44 cents instead of 150 cents.

Idea!!

PJ - did you think about this yet ?

Given that other anti-trust agencies have already approved this deal, Qualcomm is more likely to proceed with the deal even if China disapproves or drags its feet. It would mean Qualcomm may not be able to sell those NXP chips in China. Qualcomm may be able to come to terms with China after the deed is done, but I think they will push this deal through if China stalls.

@oes with 2B$ gift N will finance its own cost reduction program they have planning . Since they had bought FSL they have not done mass layoffs because they are waiting for China approval.

Win win situation for both companies.

If China doesn't approve NXP deal by July then it's 2B$ termination fees to NXP. And guess who's going to pay for that 2B$ ? 3000 Sr. Engineers and Staff engineers.

Ah ! Thats the problem. Q execs are so hard line committed to NXP that the bargaining position with China is weak weak weak - and plan B, per the forward-looking statements, appear to be stock buybacks. This org is bang out of better things to do with its $$$; look for something to buy or give it back to stockholder.
