1k saves just about ~200mil. This is one time thing and will show up in one earnings report. This will not help Qualcomm in the long run.. [ double period and not a typo, haha...for english teachers ]

Firing has never been a solution. Intelligent staffing and Hiring is. Responsible individuals who hired mindlessly should be fired, even if they are critical part. Remember they are replaceable too.

Poor calculation on Qualcomm's part. Suppose this is just a beginning. Good luck to all !

If you lay off only 1000 the cost saving from that cut is about 100M out of target 1B. For a company like QC direct costs are significant part of expenses since they don't have fabs etc so the number is likely higher. Just San Diego seems in 1k region and we are hearing activity at other sites. 10% seems reasonable, with 3400, about 350m of 1B will be from layoffs, that is 35%

10% global. Probably all in the US.... I'd say its a bit much. I still think it's in a 800 to 1000 range. Just my gut feeling.
