Differences in prices

I know from personal experience that the prices quoted on Walmart.com for items in the store can be drastically different from the actual shelf price in store. For example, I saw a large power strip on Walmart.com for about $10.97 and it said available for pickup today at my local store. When I got to the store the shelf price was about $19.97. I complained and they gave me the online price. Since then I always order walmart stuff online and pick it up. Same thing with an Ink cartridge and Headlight bulbs I purchased. Big difference in price.

@SGm5SVx-1tsz posted this on Sears page, but I was wondering if it's true? What would be the reason for this?

It’s way cheaper to send things on the mail than have a big box store. It’s a way to get people to regularly order online and reduce costs. Less people in stores means less paid workers.

It's true. I am a CSM at Walmart. Online TENDS to be lower to be competitive on a national basis. Individual stores and markets vary. We DO match our .com price if they're lower. We do NOT match other physical stores. Clearance, overstock and so many other factors come into play. THANK you for your business.

It's true I posted it. This wasn't just yesterday so I can't say they still do this. Like I said I stopped checking in store and just order online for pickup since then. last item was a few months ago. Ink cartridge about $25.99 online and $33.99 in store. HP94. It was a example to the kmart people of the price differences that can exist between online and store price, not an indictment of Walmart, I buy quite a few things there.
