So far 13 new Sears Hometown stores opened this year. A new one opened on April 5, 2018 in Witchita Falls, Texas
This is a winning format for Sears. This brand focused on 'hometowns' and Kmart as a king returned to its throne! I really think the tide is turning.
I feel bad for the owners of the hometown stores. I don't know what they are thinking. There are many other franchises to buy if that's your thing.
Eddie stop spamming the boards , SHOS is a beyond crappy idea . Hometown is nothing more than a back handed liquidation venue for tools , appliances , sporting goods and equipment. Everyone knows this . What happens when SHLD loses ALL of it's buying power and these stores can no longer be stocked? Will the local "owners" (in reality store managers that have paid 85,000 for SHLD to burn through) say , sorry you can't buy that washing machine because there is a vendor problem?

SHOS and SHLD are both publicly traded entities. SHLD and or Eddie likely have a stake in SHOS, but they are not the sole owner.
SHOS is owned by SHLD they are growing and doing quite well actually.
Independent owners fund building and operations. I guess if they fail Sears Hometown just comes and take their stuff back? I just read the webpage, I don't know the details and have never seen one.

A franchise and the small amount they make from them is paltry compared to having your own store. This means nothing. You know what else franchised like that? Radioshack. Stop being stupid and/or delusional.
I realize that Sears are a franchises, but Sears still makes money from selling them wholesale merchandise and it still means the brand name is out there.
Apparently the OP dosen't realize that Hometown stores are franchises. @SJqvPUt-sqj is correct, Sears doesn't own these stores.
