I work in one of the stores that is set to be sold May 1st, Just trying to find out who actually told the employees and made it official there store was closing (District or Store mgmt.) and what were the employees options as far as continued employment ,severance, or being layed off

Continued employment is generally offered to every associate, with the opportunity to work your own schedule and hours, with an exception being certain liquidators imposing limits such as 12 hour a day maximum, or a 60 hour workweek. This is wholly situational and will vary greatly.
Severance is generally reserved for the few full time associates in store, and what is offered is vastly reduced on a year to year basis. What you recieve is also based on how well one advocates for oneself, with multiple variences in comp in any one unit.
There are no layoffs generally because allocating a workforce is one more expense that a third party liquidation operator would rather not deal with. That said hiring is open as well, and you could be let go at any time.
