Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

My thoughts are with those in ET leadership choosing who to interview and who to pass on

Long time professional/technical employee here in a maintain/understaffed group.

I just wanted to share that my heart goes out to those in leadership and professional/technicals in overstaffed roles going through the start of Wave 1 in the ET transformation.

I talked to a few interviewing MGRs this week and all of them are honestly doing their best to review and choose through hundreds of applicants to interview for non developer openings. (400+ applicants per opening seems to be the norm in ET, with more in Labs...and who doesn't want out of ET really???)

Keep your heads up! Change is hard, and tough decisions have to be made

Only idiot leadership would outsource the entire Systems operation, as that would put their entire fate in the hands of a parasite, especially if they chose the oft-mentioned IBM, which is an economic vampire and a scourge of the modern world.

So yeah, it's totally possible these executives would do it, because these executives are idiots. But if they do, it will be the last nail in State Farm's coffin. Part of me hopes they do it, just so I can watch the company burn, except for all the innocent people impacted.

And whichever fool said performance couldn't be any worse... you could not be more wrong.

If the entire Department gets outsourced it would all be the influence of our friend AP.

I am sorry I thought the “inside baseball” would be more valuable than rumors.

Outsourcing the entire department would be more cost effective and productivity could not be less

Please stop posting your stupid horse crap in all these threads. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

If Fawad goes so does the entire Systems department. Outsourcing the entire department would be more cost effective and productivity could not be less-just read all the posts about unmotivated workers just showing up. Leadership came close to this decision several years ago-they won’t flinch this time-new sheriff in town.

Unfortunately the poster who said its about the cheapest is probably right. I think that os the most demoralizing aspect of this. Just because one is among the higher paid doesnt mean thats due to seniority. Many managers actualky did their jobs and rewarded employees based on performance. Those are the very ones i believe will now be gone. It is not the BAs fault they are no longer valued but because they have systems knowledge many were highly paid and they were worth it. Unfortunately many of the mgrs who took over im systems came from ISD and will bring in their lower paid and less skilled pald

As someone in a maintain role I agree with the OP and everyone is in my prayers. That said, I can't wait till Fawad is let go from his temporary employment and he moves on to the next company that requires destruction.

My guess is not so much who is the best but who is the cheapest.

Ignorance here but what is ET? Previous ET person says they have nothing to do. I’m assuming this is IT somewhere.

My spouse is interviewing for current openings and is pretty stressed about it.

Distinguishing the most qualified person out of a ton of good people is tough, and knowing alot of families will be heavily impacted just adds to difficulty
