Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

For those of you whose areas haven't gone through the latest transition yet

"The sad reality is that your local leadership knows nothing. They are in the dark just like you. On the Proximity claims side, the TMs found out same day as impacted employees. Worse, when it came time for impacted employees to opt-in or opt-out, there was no place for local management to put in their comments. Meaning, decisions are being made somewhere else, by someone that doesn't know you, and using unknown criteria to make that decision. My best advice: Accept that change is coming to all areas of the company at some point soon. If you can not wait for the change, or accept that change is coming, leave now rather than later. You will have less competition for jobs now. If you stay, get your financial house in order just in case & be mentally ready to weather the coming storm. The prize for keeping your job will be doing the same amount of work with far fewer people. Congratulations!"

This is a re-post from an Underwriting thread but thought everyone might be interested. My thoughts are with you...

@SFbmrWd-roe - you are both correct, as far as I know. Fire Proximity decisions were not based on work performance, but rather simply where you lived in relation to territories created by someone at corporate. S---s, but it speaks volumes about how the company feels about Proximity at this point. Now, where -vfn is correct is that after the final decisions are made, TMs should have the ability to juggle the territories and remaining Claim reps. Happened last time. Doesn't make it better, but as one of my former SMs used to say, It is what it is...

In proximity it was ONLY based on zip code of where you reside.

I was told that management does have an opportunity to calibrate on their direct reports at some point after the opt in is over. That's what occurred in IT, according to a manager from that area
