If you don't know where Ponca City is, you are not SLB. Ponca is the heart of the company. It is a city so great that it takes two counties to contain it. Come on down to Lola's.

7awq, awww now you hurt my feelings. I might be grumpy, but not old. And where is Ponca?

I don't think anyone thinks laidoff people are losers.

Losers are those who can not earn money after they let go or afraid of starvation in case they get laid off.

At the end a job is a paying bill facilitator.

8chh, i'm sorry. I wasn't specific. You're a miserable grumpy old man from Ponca.

Working at Schlumberger is like the Carousel Renewal in the movie Logan's Run with Renewal being vested retirement. Everyone thinks they know someone who might of made it but they aren't really sure. Just when you can almost reach the top - ZAP! Check the color of the crystal in your left palm. Black yet? I love how many people are tried and true blue bloods drinking the Kool-Aid and shouting the slogans...right up until they get laid off. As long as you are still there, keep saying the correct things. Remind yourself that everyone laid off was a loser and deserved it. Remind yourself how special you are as one of the chosen few. Hang on to that happy thought. It is all you have because all you are is a GIN number and have you noticed how many digits there are in that number?

6zap is spot on. What do you think this industry is and how you clown relate this to some personal bitterness and someones education

Moron. Talk to the thousands who gotten laid off

Next thread... Belfast total shutdown

6zap - you were obviously screwed over by Slb and now you have nothing but bitterness about everything in life. You clearly show yourself to be negative, uneducated and unemployed so why don't you just keep wallowing in your self-pity and regret. Life is great for many but maybe not for you.

Clearly "new" to dirty oil... positive thinkers and winners... hilarious!

Only brown nosing, misleading and cheating plus a total loss of personal dignity and technical skill can keep you employed for some time but it eventually catches up with everyone.

Add your name, post a link onto the hub and don't forget to tell and show all your bosses and everyone around you :)

Only positive thinkers and winners will do well at Slb the rest can moan their miserable lives away complaining about this or that. Accepting their intolerable fate is what losers do.

5lgv is correct.

Everyone in slb will be fired, let go, made redundant, screwed over... Call it what you want.

Unless you developed a network outside of slb you're unemployable! For every month you work there you diminish your career prospects by a year. They try to bs you with bonuses, titles, promises, or stocks... it's all make-up on a pig. What blows one's mind is that people still stick with it knowingly and even defend it.

The problem with SLB is no clear goal.

It took 3 months for management to just say to enter in something as we dont have any goals for you.

I cant understand how a company this large has no clear direction or goal. It also seems they are not letting anyone step up to take charge. I would do it but then I also want those sweet 20 million bonuses.

Every employee will let go soon or later. That includes myself.

So why fight over this ?!

Am I wrong ?

4mau - it's obvious you have no qualifications, no job, no life and no prospects. People like you sit at a keyboard all day spewing out verbal garbage and pretending there is some purpose in your miserable life. Use your severance to get an education.

If you continue to come back to this site and assume people in oil industry have low IQ after you got miserably laid off from oil industry, what is your IQ?

Florence Kentucky is at the lowest misery index regardless of how your scale works. Been there 20 years and never seen so many people unhappy. Management is terrible.

Er...On a scale of 5 - 10, 1 means what exactly? Or are you extrapolating misery? In addition, if you are establishing a scale of misery and, by your rules, 1 is the lowest, I assume that 1 is the lowest level of misery (i.e. really happy) while 10 equals the highest level of misery
