If at all possible SAVE SAVE SAVE until the layoff hits. Make sure your network is solid and your resume as well. In my case I got hit with a layoff and had a new job less than 2 weeks later with substantially better pay and through the layoff WS funded my transition into it.
I have already found a job working part time. If/when I am laid off I’ll have that job full time. Building up a nest of money just to have in case
A lot of people I know already have their resumes out there but are staying with windstream until either they are let go or they find a job that pays what they are looking for.
I hope I make it two more years so I’ll have what I need to start my new career that I want. Never intended to be here for over the decade I was
I agree with the statement of the whole world going crazy in 2017, it was not until late 2017 that the layoffs starting hitting closer to me. It took some time to get my resume ready, beef up linkedin, and get financially ready (somewhat). when the day hit I was actually surprised I took it so well, I guess I was relieved that the anticipation was finally over.
If you are still there just make sure you prepare. I was with the company 16 yrs and could clearly see what was coming. I told my employees to get their resumes ready and start putting feelers out there. Most of us had been there so long looking for new employment seemed very scary and it is. Many people are left in a fog when it happens to them instead of being proactive especially when you see them box up your neighbor on the dreaded 3rd week of the month. There are sunnier days coming if you prepare yourself. My life has definitely changed for the better especially my blood pressure wondering when they would come and tell us its just business but you arent in our future plans.
I was cut January 2017, prior to that it would have been hard to look around. I had the best pay in my life, a boss that let me run my show, and for the most part good co-workers. But with my pink slip and the crashing of this company I've discovered this layoff was a blessing.
Better pay with a very relaxed environment = greener to me
I smell a Trump hater.
Is the grass greener? Maybe spend some time reading "Latest Posts" on this site, where you will discover, much to your surprise that a recurring them appears. That being no matter the company or industry, somewhere around late 2016 to early 2017, just about every major corporation began layoffs, but even more importantly, the corporate climate and environment went toxic.
Yes, read it for yourself. It's like the whole world went crazy starting in 2017.
