Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Can Walmart be sued for these layoffs?

I just read that AT&T was sued for laying off people after promising to create more jobs as a result of tax cuts. Isn't that the exact same thing Walmart did? Promised more jobs, touted bonuses, and then turned around and implemented massive layoffs.

I'm wondering if somebody could do the same thing for Walmart and sue them? Not sure it would help, but at least there'd be media coverage on it, unlike right now.

In answer to the post, re exactly what criteria were used on the co manager evaluations, here's my guess: Blah-Blah-ish. As I have already defined that noun in a previous post, I'll use the following scenario to illustrate:

(Co manager) "But Bob....what exactly did I do wrong? How did I fail...?"

(Evil Market Manager) "Well, Ted, technically you did nothing per se in regards to the equivalent to a projected percentage of tangible variable, um, that is, necessarilly ---- I don't wanna say wrong, lol, and blahblahblah---"

(CM) "Excuse me, dd you just say 'blah blah blah'?"

"Blaaht?"

"Y-you just did it again! What are you saying, Evil Market Manager??"

" Ted, I'm afraid this BLdiscussion is counter productive to the comBLAHpany's mutually exclusiveBLA direction of gloals; BLA-themselves predicated on the innovative bLAHBLAHsituational explectives of BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH x 10 pi......"

"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, I'M CALLING MY LAWYER!!!!"

That's basically it.

What was the criteria used when rating the cos? We questioned the market team and were told a canned answer that a “fair and consistent system was used”. Well, what was it? It wasn’t evals, willingness to relocate, seniority, etc because I know many fellow cos with exceeds with evals, had open availability to move, were with Walmart 10 plus years, and we’re putting for store manager jobs. Does anyone know what this system was that was used????

The only effective law suits against that behemoth are class action. Between Walmart's staggering warehouse of defense lawyers and that most law firms won't go near class actions, it's not likely gonna happen.
